RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – Nine charges have now been laid against a 60-year-old woman accused of stealing from travellers at Vancouver International Airport.

Miriam Fajardo was arrested earlier this month by Mounties in Richmond investigating thefts reported as far back as Mar. 2.

They say the foreign national, believed to be part of a larger organized group, was caught stealing a purse from a passenger at YVR’s international arrivals terminal.

“Police are looking at the possibility of linking multiple instances of theft to this woman,” read a release from RCMP. ” A number of law enforcement agencies besides the RCMP are interested in the accused and have been assisting us in our investigation.”

Fajardo is charged with six counts of theft under five thousand dollars, as well as one count of obstructing a police officer and two other identity fraud-related offences.
