On behalf of YVR, I want to thank you—our airport employees, volunteers, business partners and community members—for supporting our airport throughout the COVID-19 crisis. It has been a tough time for everyone everywhere, as the global pandemic’s far-reaching effects strain healthcare systems, halt economies and even alter societal norms. We couldn’t face it without you.
It’s no secret that COVID-19 has greatly impacted YVR. In fact, it’s the most profound challenge we have ever encountered and these days it really shows, with greatly reduced passenger numbers, closed shops and halted projects. While it’s a grim picture, please know that there is a dedicated team here, 24/7, doing everything possible to get us safely through this crisis. If anything, what COVID-19 has already taught us is just how much we rely on each other and, consequently, how much we can accomplish if we work together.
The constantly evolving nature of this situation means that there’s a lot happening at YVR in any given moment. Because it’s too much to detail in this post, we have put together a video where I detail the current situation at YVR, as well as our approach. I encourage you to watch it and to please let us know if there is anything we can do to help. And above all, stay safe.
