Swoop heats up winter travel planning with new non-stop flights to Cuba

The ultra-not-expensive airline grows Caribbean offering with ultra-not-expensive service from Toronto to Varadero

CALGARY, AB, Aug. 31, 2022 /CNW/ – Today, Swoop, Canada’s leading ultra-low-cost airline, expanded its winter schedule with new routes, more frequencies and new service to Cuba. Swoop will begin its seasonal, non-stop service between Toronto (YYZ) and Varadero (VRA) on January 11, 2023, and fares are starting as low as $189 one-way.

As part of its expanding winter schedule, Swoop will restart service to some popular sun and fun routes. Swoop is bringing sun flying back to London, ON (YXU) beginning December 3 with non-stop service to Cancun (CUN) starting on December 3 and to Orlando (Sanford) on December 4. In addition, the ULCC will restart service to Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL) from both Toronto (YYZ) and Hamilton (YHM) on December 8 and December 9, respectively.

WestJet brings back the heat this Winter

Airline to return 17 sun and leisure routes suspended during pandemic to destinations across the Caribbean, Mexico and U.S.

CALGARY, AB, Aug. 8, 2022 /CNW/ – WestJet today celebrated the return of 17 sun routes to its network this winter. The returning routes which were suspended for more than two years, bring enhanced connectivity and vacation options for Canadians and communities across the airline’s network.

“The restart of these routes is another positive step in the restoration our network as we solidify WestJet as the reliable, friendly and affordable airline we are known to be,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer. “We recognize the past three winters have been disruptive to our guests travel plans and we look forward to reconnecting Canadians to some of the warmer destinations they have missed the most.”

The airline today also announced new six-times weekly regional service between Penticton, B.C., and Vancouver beginning on February 17, 2023 on WestJet Link along with the restart of domestic connectivity between Edmonton and Nanaimo, B.C.

Flair Airlines adds affordable non-stop sun service between Toronto and Cancun, moves Los Angeles service to LAX

  • Twice weekly service from Toronto to Cancun begins November 3, beginning at $109 CAD
  • Service from Edmonton and Vancouver changes to Los Angeles (LAX) from Hollywood-Burbank (BUR) on October 31
  • Added frequencies between Vancouver and Puerto Vallarta (4x weekly) and between Vancouver and Los Cabos (3x weekly)

Edmonton, Alberta, August 3, 2022 – Flair Airlines, Canada’s everyday low fare airline, is adding another exciting route to its Mexico network with service to Cancun from Toronto. Twice weekly service will connect Torontonians to Cancun, nonstop. There will also be additional frequencies added on several Mexico routes. Flair is also moving its Los Angeles operations from Hollywood Burbank Airport to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), effective October 31.

Toronto to Cancun is now one of eight Mexican routes, joining service to Cancun from Kitchener-Waterloo and Ottawa. Travellers can also fly to Los Cabos from Abbotsford, Edmonton, and Vancouver (with increased frequency from 2x weekly to 3x weekly), as well as the newly added Puerto Vallarta routes from Edmonton and Vancouver this fall which will be increased from 1x weekly to 4x weekly.

Other changes for the winter include Flair’s move from Hollywood-Burbank to LAX. The airport is close to LA attractions such as Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills. Service to Los Angeles begins on October 31 from Edmonton (3x weekly) and November 1 from Vancouver (4x weekly). “We are thrilled to have secured gate availability at LAX’s spectacular new Tom Bradley International Terminal,” said Jones.

Lynx Air’s Inaugural Flight From Edmonton Takes Off

Canada’s new ultra-affordable airline is celebrating its arrival in Edmonton with a seat sale.

EDMONTON, AB, July 14, 2022 /CNW/ – Lynx Air’s (Lynx) first flight from Edmonton International Airport took to the skies today, marking the commencement of five return services a week from  Edmonton International Airport to Toronto Pearson International Airport and St John’s International Airport.

Lynx Air’s Inaugural Flight From St. John’s Takes Off

Canada’s new ultra-affordable airline is celebrating its arrival in St. John’s with a seat sale

ST. JOHN’S, NB, June 28, 2022 /CNW/ – Lynx Air’s (Lynx) first flight from St. John’s International Airport will take to the skies today, marking the commencement of twice-weekly return service between St. John’s and Toronto Pearson International Airport. As of July 14, 2022, the St. John’s-Toronto service will increase to daily and will add Edmonton and Calgary to its network.

Starting July 14, the airline will be flying 14 flights a week in and out of St. John’s, equating to 2,646 seats per week. The Edmonton and Calgary services will operate as through-flight services to St. John’s via Toronto, providing a seamless service with a single boarding pass, no deplaning in Toronto and the ability to check bags through to St. John’s.

To celebrate Lynx’s inaugural flight to St. John’s, the airline has launched a limited-time seat sale, offering up to 50 per cent off all base fares to and from St. John’s. The ultra-not-expensive airline introduces new non-stop services to Canada’s Capital
