Service between Calgary and Toronto Pearson begins with two daily, non-stop return flights, increasing to three daily as of June 1. The flights are operated with Porter’s new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The 132-seat aircraft features an all-economy, two-by-two configuration, which makes Porter the only airline with no middle seats on this route.

“The launch of service in Calgary continues Porter’s western expansion and marks our entry to southern Alberta,” said Kevin Jackson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Porter Airlines. “Porter’s elevated economy travel experience is unlike anything that Calgarians have experienced up to now. The level of service that Porter offers is unheard of for economy travellers among North American airlines.”

Porter’s elevated passenger experience, which includes complimentary beer and wine served in real glassware, free premium snacks, and free WiFi, is available to all travellers. Fresh, healthy meals, pre-mixed cocktails and additional snack options are also available on the new Calgary-Toronto Pearson route. Passengers can enjoy these additional features, either as part of PorterReserve all-inclusive fares or for purchase à la carte with PorterClassic fares.

The new Calgary-Toronto route connects two leading Canadian cities with excellent tourist destinations and economic trade opportunities. Calgary is a vibrant city surrounded by natural attractions, including the Rocky Mountains being only a short drive away. Toronto offers great nightlife, unique neighbourhoods, and a variety of sporting and cultural events.

“YYC is thrilled to welcome a new airline, Porter Airlines, to our Team YYC community. The growth of its network with Porter’s expansion into Western Canada is proof of the success and demand for its innovative approach to air travel,” says Rob Palmer, Vice President, Commercial, Strategy and Chief Financial Officer at The Calgary Airport Authority. “It is thanks to our airline partners, that we can say our airport is well on our way to becoming fully recovered. We’re excited to support Porter in its ongoing growth as we set our sights on the expansion of our community.”

Porter has already inaugurated new routes this month connecting Toronto-Pearson with Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver and Edmonton. Halifax service begins on Feb. 23. More information, including flight schedules and Porter Escapes vacation packages, can be found at www.flyporter.com

Porter Airlines Takes Delivery of Their First Embraer E195-E2

SÃO JOSÉ DOS CAMPOS, Brazil and TORONTO, Dec. 21, 2022 /CNW/ – The first two of 50 Embraer E195-E2 ordered by Porter Airlines have been delivered in a ceremony at Embraer’s headquarters in Brazil. Porter’s new E195-E2 fleet will launch the airline’s new elevated economy experience that aims to challenge the economy offering of every North American airline, with a new level of generosity and thoughtful service not seen in contemporary economy air travel.

In the run up to the new year, Embraer will deliver a further three aircraft to Porter.

Porter, the North American launch customer for Embraer’s E195-E2, is opening up operations throughout North America, including to the west coast, southern U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean. The aircraft will initially be deployed from Toronto Pearson International Airport, with Halifax, Montreal and Ottawa also seeing new services with the E195-E2. Porter has chosen to configure the 146-seat aircraft in a comfortable 132-seat all-economy configuration, with a variety of seat pitches on offer for their guests: 36, 34, and 30 inches.

“The official delivery of these aircraft is the beginning of a new era for Porter,” said Michael Deluce, president and CEO, Porter Airlines. “The E195-E2 enables us to reach across the continent, beyond our Eastern Canada roots, while introducing a level of service for economy air travellers that no other North American airline provides. It’s an enhanced experience that builds on our reputation for providing an elevated level of service to every passenger at reasonable prices in a single class of service. The first planes are ready to fly to Canada later this month before going into regular service in February.”

Arjan Meijer, president and CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation, said, “Porter is focused on delivering what we all want – making the air travel experience a pleasure rather than a pain. Along with their exciting levels of service and generosity, Porter’s entire fleet is also without the dreaded middle seat, and will also satisfy the sustainability needs of Porter’s guests. The E195-E2 is the most environmentally-friendly single-aisle aircraft, at 65% quieter and up to 25% cleaner than previous-generation aircraft. It has the lowest fuel consumption per seat and per trip among 120- to 150-seat aircraft, and is the quietest single-aisle jet flying today.”

In total, Porter has orders with Embraer for up to 100 E195-E2 aircraft; 50 firm commitments and 50 purchase rights. In 2021, Porter ordered 30 Embraer E195-E2 jets, with purchase rights for a further 50 aircraft, worth US$5.82 billion at list price, with all options exercised. A firm order for a further 20 aircraft followed in 2022, valued at US$1.56 billion.

Embraer E195-E2 and E190-E2 Receives Type Certification in Canada

15 November 2022

Embraer’s E2 family of commercial jets, the E195-E2 and E190-E2, has received Type Certification from Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA), following certification from ANAC (Brazil), the FAA (USA), and EASA (Europe) in 2019 and 2018 respectively.

The delivery of the first of fifty E195-E2 ordered by Toronto based Porter Airlines, which will also be the first E195-E2 to operate in North America, will take place at Embraer’s headquarters in São José dos Campos, Brazil, in the coming days.

Porter Airlines has orders with Embraer for up to 100 E195-E2 aircraft; 50 firm commitments and 50 purchase rights. In 2021 Porter ordered 30 Embraer E195-E2 jets, with purchase rights for a further 50 aircraft, worth US$5.82 billion at list price, with all options exercised. A firm order for a further 20 aircraft followed in 2022, valued at US$1.56 billion.

The world’s most efficient family of single-aisle aircraft is shaping the regional market with its sustainable technologies, superior cabin comfort, excellent economics and optimal range. As operators look to the future, renewing ageing fleets and expanding networks, the E2 will be at the heart of this transformation.

The E195-E2 is the most environmentally friendly aircraft in its class, with a 25% lower fuel burn than the previous generation aircraft, with E190-E2 achieving 17% lower emissions. Both aircraft have the lowest levels of external noise, and the longest maintenance intervals in the single-aisle jet category – with 10,000 flight hours for basic checks and no calendar limit for typical E-Jet operations. This means an additional 15 days of aircraft utilization over a period of ten years compared to current generation E-Jets.

The E190-E2’s take-off performance is particularly notable, the aircraft’s range from airports with hot-and-high conditions, such as Denver and Mexico City, increases by 600nm compared to current-generation aircraft.
